Generative AI @ CUHK
The Chinese University of Hong Kong emphasizes the responsible and ethical use of generative AI tools in education, promoting familiarity and critical engagement among teachers and students. The university upholds academic integrity by prohibiting unauthorized AI use in assignments and assessments, while allowing its use under specific conditions with proper citation and permissions. Regular reviews of guidelines, along with professional development for AI literacy, ensure that both teaching and learning benefit from technological advancements without compromising academic honesty.

Responses to AI-integrated Education
The Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research (CLEAR) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is at the forefront of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into higher education. Recognizing the transformative potential of generative AI, CLEAR has developed a comprehensive suite of resources and materials. These are designed to assist academics, teachers, researchers, and students in harnessing AI to innovate and enhance learning, teaching, and assessment processes.
In addition to resource development, CLEAR is actively fostering a deeper understanding of AI within the CUHK community through collaborative efforts. By organizing a series of seminars and workshops in partnership with various departments and units, CLEAR aims to educate and encourage the community to adopt AI technologies. These initiatives emphasize the importance of maintaining fairness, transparency, and inclusiveness as core values in the integration of AI.
Supported by generous funding from the UGC, CUHK, along with other UGC-funded universities, has initiated the “AI in Education” and “Generative AI for Teaching and Education” projects. These projects underscore the critical role of AI in education and aim to connect educators across Hong Kong’s higher education sector. The primary goal is to boost AI literacy and share practical, real-world applications of AI in education through a collaborative platform and knowledge-sharing activities.
