AI and Student Mental Health
Seminar Abstract: | Student mental health is a significant concern, with many students hesitant to seek help for their challenges, underscoring the need for better service engagement and early identification. Social media has emerged as a valuable platform for identifying and reaching out to at-risk individuals through AI and text analysis of their posts. Recently, researchers have developed innovative AI tools to facilitate self-assessment and interventions, providing individuals with convenient access to support in a high-privacy, stigma-free environment. For example, an app created by CU Medicine has proven effective in assessing depression, and an AI chatbot offers interactive, sleep-focused interventions to educate users about sleep and alleviate insomnia. These advancements highlight the potential of AI to promote student mental health. |
