Pedagogic Research Knowledge Exchange (ARU-CUHK Joint Session 1)

You are cordially invited to join the “Pedagogic Research Knowledge Exchange – ARU-CUHK Joint Session 1”, organized by the Teaching and Learning Community of Practice (T&L CoP). In this session, educators from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Anglia Ruskin University will collaborate to share their teaching innovations and insights on technology-enhanced education.

Speakers and Topics: 1. Engagement Patterns in Online Learning
Dr. Uwe Matthias RICHTER, Associate Professor: Digital Pedagogic Innovation, Centre for Innovation in Higher Education, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, United Kingdom

Abstract: The presentation will consider engagement patterns in online distance learning courses. While the main focus is on asynchronous and synchronous learning which Uwe investigated as part of his doctorate (https://discovery.ucl.ac.uk/id/eprint/10171207/), the session will conclude with reflections on post Covid synchronous online deliveries. The presentation will conclude with recommendations and questions for further research.

2. Pedagogical Strategies in Tech-Enhanced Nursing Education
Dr Joanna Wing Yan YEUNG, Professional Consultant, The Nethersole School of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Abstract: In the rapidly evolving field of nursing education, innovative pedagogical strategies are essential to prepare students for the complexities of modern healthcare. This presentation examines innovative pedagogical strategies in nursing education, focusing on the use of simulated patients, virtual patients, VR cave, and AI-powered animation. These technologies enhance learning by providing realistic, interactive, and personalized experiences. This sharing would also include an exploration of the benefits and challenges associated with each technology, as well as case studies demonstrating the tips for successful implementation. The presentation will conclude with insights into future trends and potential developments in tech-enhanced nursing education.
