Involving Students as Partners in CUHK:
The following examples offer ideas and inspiration for approaches to engage SaP with different focus:
Hands-on robotic lectures
Peer learning are promoted in class with the active involvement of robots in hands-on lectures for robotic fundamental course in Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering.
The project is supported by Courseware Development Grant with 10 to 15 robot arms developed.
Collaborative project on Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS)
A collaborative project on Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) in General Education Foundation Programme (GEFP) from the Office of University General Education (OUGE) and undergraduate courses from the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care (SPHPC) and School of Biomedical Sciences (SBS).
Students led an one-hour volunteer group study session on a weekly basis as “PASS Leaders”, served as facilitators for peer learning.
This project is supported by the Teaching Development and Language Enhancement Grant (TDLEG) for 2016-19.
Co-creation of online learning module
Undergraduates from School of Life Sciences acted as Co-creators to partner with faculty and postgraduate teaching assistants in the production of online learning module for undergraduate course BIOL3012.
This project is supported by the Special Funding Scheme for Online Learning under the Teaching Development and Language Enhancement Grant (TDLEG) for 2019-22.
SaP community project in prosthetics development
Students from the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering partner with faculty and community partner in a community project of prosthetic development for those in need.
Students co-developed multiple tools supporting the prosthetic to address various needs of the upper arm amputees and symbrachydactyly subjects.
MASCOT: An interactive web application for students’ complexity of thinking
A teaching-and-learning research on the interactive web application (MASCOT) for students’ complexity of thinking are conducted by the Office of General Education, to engage students in self-evaluation of their own thinking complexity.
