Blackboard Collaborate has become a highly used virtual space that provides synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities. Learn about how institutions in Asia, Australia, and the United States have been using this utilitarian solution. This session will also include example practices of formative evaluation strategies and informal assessment and feedback processes.
Please bring a laptop or iPad or iPhone so to participate in hand-on activities designed to inspire adoption of Collaborate. Installed Chrome or Firefox is required.
Biography:
Dr. Susan D’Aloia is the Client Success Manager for the Asia Pacific region. As an interdisciplinary educator and program developer, Susan has worked as a consultant and trainer in the United States, Latin America and Asia. She has worked with public and private schools, non-traditional learning institutions, multiple colleges and universities, as well as the private sector. Susan has taught over 1,000 hours of fully online and blended learning instruction as well as serving as a Department Head and an Associate Director. She maintains a passion for digital remediation of content and processes and working with the educators who continue to maintain and innovate learning. In addition to her doctoral degree, Susan earned a graduate degree in fine arts from Sarah Lawrence College and has a graduate level certificate in education. Her essays and scholarship have been published in journals including the Global City Review, New Renaissance Magazine, Internarrative Identity Revisited from Palgrave Macmillan and in The Future of English in Asia by Routeledge Press. Most recently her work has been published in 21st Century Holistic Learning and ELearn Magazine. Currently, Susan is synthesizing research and action on intercultural eLearning leadership and teaching and learning opportunities within the business sector.
