Abstract:
Many universities have started partnering with MOOC platforms to offer MOOCs to learners around the world. Back on campus, universities have long been using LMSs to set up online course sites to support on-campus class teaching. Considerable amount of data is collected from these MOOCs and online course sites. Most universities and MOOC platforms have clear data protocols to ensure opportunities and clear channels of access to the data for conducting research, but at the same time protect the privacy of learners and the interests of the universities and these MOOC platforms. In this seminar, the speaker will use Coursera, Blackboard and Canvas as examples to introduce the data protocols which researchers at CUHK can follow to access the data for conducting research.
