Group Discussions
What are your roles as a supervisor? Participants will explore the different roles (and responsibilities) a supervisor may play throughout the candidature.
Matching student’s needs and supervisor’s style of supervision process Participants will role play either “supervisor” or “student” when completing the ‘Role Perception Rating Scale Questionnaire’. In pairs, complete the questionnaire independently, and then compare answers with each other. Where there are significant differences, “supervisor” and “student” discuss and negotiate with each other.
Supervising the student at different stages of their candidature Participants will identify some of the common problems supervisors encounter and explore strategies to overcome them using a series of scenarios.
