The establishment of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) hasled to important changes in the future prospects forhigher education worldwide. Full courses in nearly all disciplines imaginable have been developed in recent years, and these are now freely available in platforms such as Coursera and edX, making education unhampered bythe restrictions of location andtime, as well as cultural and social economical background.
Several of the universities in Hong Kong are conscious of thisnew development and have either begun, or are about to begin, a range of initiatives to leverage the potential of this trend in enhancing teaching and learning initiatives in the region.
In collaboration with the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia - Hong Kong Branch (HERDSA HK), the Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is proud to host a half-day seminar on the theme: “Internationalisation of Higher Education with Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs),” as a platform for practitioners amongst the universities in Hong Kong to share their experiences in this exciting new pedagogic area.
