The Centre for Learning Enhancement And Research (CLEAR) at CUHK is pleased to organize a seminar “Teaching and Learning in Flipped Classroom”. Flipped classroom practitioners and researchers from different universities in Hong Kong can share their ideas and knowledge in this area. The seminar will be a half day informal event to gather academic professionals and hopefully will nurture a community of practice in flipped classroom.
The seminar consists of two following sessions and invites experienced speakers to share their understandings on respective themes. Afterwards, a discussion session will also be arranged to engage dialogues among all participants.

Session A: To Flip or Not to Flip? (10:00 am - 11:15 am)
Many scholars have noticed the benefits and challenges brought by the flipped teaching methods, compared to the traditional higher education. It is important to ask the question whether to flip the classroom or not, as well as the reasoning behind.

Session B: How to Flip? (11:45 am - 1:00 pm)
The flipped classroom methods can be challenging for both teachers and students. For example, the academically challenged students may need additional help. As flipped classroom requires a certain degree of active learning, students who lack self-learning motivation may find the methods challenging too. This session will discuss the possible good designs and solutions in adopting the flipped classroom approach.
